Ain’t Got Time for That
After years of adding new content, a game may reach a point where it needs to decide if there is too much content. WoW has certainly reached that point and it seems that Final Fantasy XIV might also be there. Like a tree, video game, or body weight, the answer is the same; if there is too much, trim a bit of it off. While Square Enix does not appear to be ending support for the game anytime soon, the next Final Fantasy XIV update will be trimming the fat, so to speak.
During a livestream on Twitch, Square Enix laid out what would be coming in Update 5.3 – Reflections in Crystal. One of the changes to the main questline, is that it will be streamlined. A few of the missions will be removed to cut out the unnecessary bits. More XP and gear will be added to earlier quests so that new players will not have to grind as much to get on with the rest of the game. Players will also be able to use flying mounts (which were introduced in Heavensward updates 3.x) in A Realm Reborn 2.x areas.
Back in Update 5.1, Square Enix introduced a crossover raid with the NieR series titled, The Copied Factory. In 5.3, a follow-up will be released called The Puppets’ Banker. There are many other minor changes that SiliconEra tirelessly laid out. Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PS3, and PS4, and will be out on Xbox One in the future.
