New Total War: Three Kingdoms Expansion is Set to Release Later This Month

A World Betrayed Launches on March 16th

Total War: Three Kingdoms will be getting another expansion this month. Called A World Betrayed, this new campaign is going to focus more on the mid-game rather than add to the timeline. The Han Dynasty will already be destroyed and civil war will be raging. There are going to be 13 different factions to choose from, but most of them are already in the vanilla game.

A World Betrayed is going to focus more on the story rather than add any new historical context to the game. The previous DLC offered players a chance to take part in the events that led to the base game, but this new expansion will do no such thing. New starting positions and events based on the actual history will all be present, but do not expect A World Betrayed to flip the game on its head.

New units for most factions are going to be added too. This is going to give each faction a little more distinction between one another on the battlefield. It is hard to really stand out when all the units are relatively the same. Much like Shogun 2 years prior, it looks like Creative Assembly is going for a little more flavor within the factions themselves.

Expect to see more expansions that really flush out specific times throughout the collapse of the Han Dynasty. CA seems to be very keen on really telling a well made historically accurate story. Other Total War games in the past have not gotten nearly as much historical attention as Three Kingdoms. Hopefully, this is something the developers stick with moving forward.

Total War: Three Kingdoms is currently available on Steam. A Word Betrayed can be pre-purchased now at a discount.
