Call of Duty: Warzone Explodes in Popularity With Over 15 Million Players

Not Too Shabby

Call of Duty: Warzone has burst on to the battle royale scene. Despite the game dipping its toes into a genre that some have grown tired of, it looks like plenty of people are willing to make the exception for Warzone. While this take on the battle royale mode does not reinvent the wheel, it does add some very interesting and unique things that should be commended. If these player counts continue, then we should expect to see Warzone be able to create some serious competition for games like PUBG and Fortnite.

Call of Duty - Warzone - Battle Royale

Call of Duty: Warzone has not even been out a week and it already has 15 million players. Not bad for a game that was thought to have been rushed out the door. Now that we know this is going to be much more than just a last-minute mode added on to Modern Warfare, it will be interesting to see how the devs keep the game fresh and interesting.

One of the more original additions to Warzone has to be the currency system. Throughout games, you will be able to loot cash around the map as well as off dead enemies. This money can then be spent at stations that grant you different boosts or kill streak abilities depending on how much money you have. These can be as small as extra armor plates for your vest, to things as big as airstrikes.

However, the best thing about Call of Duty: Warzone has to be the Gulag. The Gulag is a place you go when you die. Once you are here you can then battle another player who was eliminated to the death. Whoever wins gets sent back into the game. The other has to hang their head in shame. It really is a great touch.
