Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls Gets PC Release Date

In Scarcely Two Weeks, In Fact

I know you all were eagerly anticipating the PC release of Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls. Well, now your long wait is almost over! XSEED has announced that the PC version of the game is coming out on Steam on January 15th, 2020. That’s less than two weeks away!

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls

It seems there were some licencing issues to work out, which is what kept the game out of its original 2019 release windows. Acquire’s modern entry into the Wizardry series was previously released on PS3 and the Vita back when those systems were a thing. Now a whole new generation of players will get to experience this classic dungeon crawler.

If you’re unfamiliar with Wizardry, this is the series that led to Etrian Odyssey, as well the entire concept of dungeon crawlers as a popular genre. The complicated maps, extensive gear and skill selections, tough monsters, and massive size are all returning hallmarks of a true genre pioneer. This modern implementation has a couple of small differences, namely the sprinkles of anime-style aesthetics. While this might be a turn-off for some people, I maintain my stalwart belief that a deep, crazy game is buried underneath those sparkling character portraits and their exuberant voice actors.
