SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated Release Date Has Been Leaked

Are You Ready Kids?

The release date for the remastered SpongeBob game Battle for Bikini Bottom as been leaked thanks to a Nintendo email. The game was first announced in 2019. THQ Nordic will be the developers behind the project and it is a safe assumption to say that fans of the series are excited. SpongeBob has managed to amass a very wide and diverse following over the years, kids, teens, and adults can’t seem to get enough of SpongeBob whether that is through the TV show or thought memes.

According to the leaked email we should expect to see SpongeBob once more on May 22nd. It should be noted that the email also says that the 24th could serve as a release date too. So let’s just say sometime in late May 2020. However, the 22nd remains the most likely candidate as that is when the new SpongeBob movie is set to release in theatres.

The original game released all the way back in 2003, so there was a lot to improve on. The graphics have been changed significantly. Something that should be expected in a remaster. Another notable change has been the addition of a multiplayer mode. When the original was released, there was no online option for consoles at the time. This new multiplayer feature will offer fans the choice between local split-screen cooperative play or online cooperative. Not surprisingly there will be no PVP action. You’ll have to play something else if you want to get into a competitive scene.

Expect to see this remaster do quite well thanks to how beloved it has become by its original viewers (who are now in their 20s) over the years. Nostalgia is a powerful tool and with a reasonable price tag of $30 is a no brainer for any SpongeBob fan.
