The Soviets were not exactly the best social planners to ever exist, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t. In Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic the player takes on the role of a USSR urban engineer who’s job it is to manage and improve a semi-autonomous republic in the Soviet Union. No pressure. Much like Sim City, the player is responsible for making sure that the citizens living in said area have everything they could ever need. Water, electricity, hospitals, all the essentials.
Workers and Resouces is a little more large scale than some of the other games in its genre. After all, you are responsible for looking over an entire Soviet Republic. The economy also plays a significant part in the game as well. You will also need to manage your workforce as well. If you want something built you’ll need to make sure you have enough manpower to get it done properly. This is definitely a much more hardcore city building game. It really emphasizes infrastructure and other smaller features in the game in a way that is quite unique.
Workers and Resources are currently in early access so there are still a lot of things to work out. But it is shaping up to be a fairly decent game if everything goes to plan. This game is by no means going to appeal to a mass audience but if you are into strategy games in any way, make sure you check it out. It is currently available on Steam.
