Alongside the New Alcatraz Map Reveal Blackout Will Be Free-To-Play for All of April

Blackout Will Be Free-To-Play for the Month of April

Today Treyarch has made not one, but two major announcements. The first is that their new Alcatraz map is a brand new close-quarters map for Blackout and the second is that their Black Ops 4 Battle Royale game mode will be free-to-play for the entire month of April.

Blackout crashing

Earlier today Treyarch and Activision revealed its plans for Alcatraz, and no this location isn’t going to be a new spot in the current Blackout map for players to drop into, instead it’s a completely separate map! According to the big reveal trailer this map is set to be close-quarters and players will have to survive against not only their enemies, but also the zombies that roam the prison. This new Alcatraz map is set to drop tomorrow on the PlayStation 4 first, with PC and Xbox One releases to follow. You can check out the new trailer below.

Now if you watched until the very end of the trailer for the new Alcatraz map you would have also seen that the Blackout game mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will completely free-to-play from April 2nd until April 30th! Of course, you will still need an active Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus subscription in order to get into the action. While this isn’t the first time Blackout has been free-to-play, this is the longest period of time it’s been available as such, and it’s the first time players will get to sink their teeth into the brand new map!

Will you be dropping into Blackout to play the original map and the Alcatraz one? Are you excited that Blackout is getting another map? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to keep it locked for updates!
