Sega Genesis Mini Coming This September

As Good As The SNES Classic? Or As Good As The PS Classic?

Sega announced the release date for the Sega Genesis Mini! We’ll finally be getting the classic console on September 19th. Sega was also nice enough to list some of the games that will be on the system.

Sega Genesis Mini

As always, so far the list is kind of a mixed bag. They can’t all be zingers (of course), but there’s still a few gems. And we haven’t even seen all of them! Right now we’ve got:

-Altered Beast
-Castlevania: Bloodlines
-Comix Zone
-Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
-Ecco the Dolphin
-Gunstar Heroes
-Shining Force
-Sonic The Hedgehog
-Space Harrier II
-ToeJam & Earl

Gunstar Heroes is an excellent addition, same with Shining Force. But could we please, please just get all the Sonic games in one place? Would that really be so difficult? Even just the first three and the Knuckles expansion! Sonic 3D Blast we can skip, honestly. I haven’t played Castlevania: Bloodlines yet, but I assume it’s beautiful, difficult, and rocking a decent soundtrack. While this hasn’t been confirmed for the North American version, it sounds like the Japanese release will have access to multiple versions of these games. Fingers crossed this feature comes to the West as well. The system will come with two three-button controllers, with a retail price set at about $80 USD. The controller ports will be USB, meaning that classic controllers won’t work. We’ll keep you updated with the proper games list as it comes out.
