This is a High Dosage of Disney and Square Enix
If you played Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, and 3, you will notice there are gaps in between the games. Kingdom Hearts 2 does not pick up right after 1, 3 does not pick up right after 2. All the spin-offs are pretty important story-wise, so skipping some might throw some fans off. Luckily, you can spend some time and money to clear things up. Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far is a bundle of all the Kingdom Hearts games leading up to the third major installment released earlier this year.
So, what does this bundle include? If you know anything about the Kingdom Hearts releases, you’ll know that there are re-releases and remasters with a .5 addition to the titles. The bundle includes Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, 2.5 Remix, and 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, but these are bundles inside a bundle. The 1.5 Remix includes Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re: Chain of Memories, and 358/2 Days. 2.5 Remix is a collection of Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and Re: Coded. And 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue includes Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance and two other pieces of content Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover and 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage.
That’s like nine games (I think?). This bundle may give you all the story available, but good luck digesting and making sense of it. The first two Remixes are already available on PS3, and all three are separately available on PS4. If you are a PS4 owner who already has all these, The Story So Far might not interest you, but it will be coming out for Xbox One and PS4 in Canada on March 15th and Europe on March 29th. I guess we should thank Square Enix for not calling it Kingdom Hearts (32×0.6 ≠ ∞) + π.
