Survive ‘Em Up ‘Project Winter’ Enters Steam Early Access

An Open Beta for Project Winter Is Planned

The eight-player multiplayer survival game Project Winter is entering Steam Early Access, the game’s publisher, Other Ocean Group, announced on Tuesday. There’s also going to be an open beta event for the game sometime in the future, according to the publisher.

Project Winter will cost $19.99 and will launch on Steam, Greenman Gaming, and the Humble Bundle.

According to a press release, Project Winter is a game “focused on social deception and survival” in which players are randomly put into two different groups: Traitors & Survivors.

“Players must gather resources, repair structures, and brave the wilderness together – but beware of traitors within the group who will be steadily gaining strength as the match progresses and whose only goal is to stop the survivors by any means necessary,” part of the press release read. “Communication and teamwork are essential to the survivors’ ultimate goal of escape.”

Ryan Hale, the studio head at the game’s developer, Other Ocean Interactive, said that Project Winter wasn’t “just a survival genre game” but also “has an element of player deception.”

“This is a game where you meet up with friends and either work together or destroy them,” Hale explained. “Unlike other survival games which you must stay alive to win, in Project Winter you require the cooperation of other players to help you make it out alive. In-game player communication is a key element to playing the game, in which no one can be trusted.”
