eShop Titles Includes Several Free-to-Play/Free-to-Start titles
Amidst rumors that a name change may be impending, Nintendo has provided a list of the most downloaded eShop titles on the Switch for the year 2018. Some of these entries shouldn’t be surprising, as Nintendo had a big year in 2018 for both their own first party titles as well as supporting third party and indie developers.
Here’s the full list, a * next to the name indicates a game that is either Free-to-Play or Free-to-Start.
- Fortnite *
- Fallout Shelter *
- Paladins *
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Warframe *
- Arena of Valor *
- Minecraft
- Hollow Knight
- Super Mario Party
- Celeste
- Mario Tennis Aces
- Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
- Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!
- Dead Cells
- Overcooked! 2
- Octopath Traveler
- Undertale
- Kirby Star Allies
- Diablo III: Eternal Collection
- Wizard of Legend
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
- Okami HD
- Darkest Dungeon
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
- Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
- Golf Story
Twenty-Six strikes me as an incredibly odd choice to cut off a list, but here we are. Fortnite taking first place comes as no surprise, and the list is pretty much dominated by third party titles. Nintendo had a fairly strong showing this year, but I’m excited to see what they have planned for 2019!
It was by no means a slow year for games, and this list also doubles as some of the best games I personally enjoyed this year.
