Nintendo Says They Make an Astronomical Amount of Their Annual Revenue During the Holiday Season

Nintendo Makes an Insane Amount of Its Annual Revenue in the Holiday Season

It’s no secret that the holiday season is a big time for everyone in the gaming industry, with Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo offering huge deals on each of their consoles. As it turns out, the holiday season might mean a little more to Nintendo than the other two however as President Reggie Fils-Aime revealed just how much in a recent interview.

The video game giant has set the bar to sell 20 million Switch consoles by the end of the fiscal year ending in March 2019 and as of October, they’ve still got 15 million units to go. It seems they might not be too worried though as Nintendo President says they sell the bulk of their annual revenue within the three month holiday season alone. In a recent interview with Yahoo Finance, Reggie FIls-Aime revealed just how much of their yearly revenue is accounted for during this time and it’s a whopping 60%!

Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime stated that they generate more revenue in the Americas than anywhere else in fact. “The holiday selling season, October, November and December, critically important to our company. We typically do, in the Americas, about 60% of our revenue during that time frame. The reason that it’s so significant is first, our products make great gifts. Whether you’re talking about Nintendo Switch, whether you’re talking about Nintendo 2DS, we really do well with that gift-giving occasion.”

Though it’s hardly a surprising statement to make that the holiday season is financially their best time all year, it is rather shocking to find out that over half of their entire revenue is made in just a quarter of the entire year. What do you think about this revelation? And are you planning on making a major purchase either today on Cyber Monday, or during the holiday season?
