The Awards Ceremony Has Six Different Categories
This yearโs PlayStation Awards will be held on December 3rd, according to an official announcement made on Monday. The awards ceremony has been held every year since 1994, which was the year the PS1 launched in Japan.
Hereโs every category, according to the official website:
- Platinum Prize: Cumulative number of shipments (number of deliveries) Title exceeding 1 million
- Gold Prize: Cumulative shipment number (number of deliveries) Title exceeding 500,000
- PlayStation Network Award: Top three network titles (total from October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018)
- Userโs Choice Award: 10 titles by usersโ voting (titles released from 1 October 2017 to 30 September 2018)
- PlayStation VR Awards: Three titles contributed to the sales and format rise of PlayStation VR (Total from October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018) * Excluded last yearโs awards title
- Indie & Developer Award: Three titles contributing to the expansion of the title lineup of PlayStation (total from 1st October 2017 to 30th September 2018) * Last yearโs commendation title is excluded
Those interested in the ceremony should know that itโll be livestreamed on YouTube while being held in Tokyoโs Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa. They should also know that voting for the Userโs Choice Award will be open until October 8th.
