Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 HD Playable Now on Xbox One Backwards Compatibility

Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 HD Make Their Way to Xbox One Today

Larry Hyrb aka Major Nelson has announced that the pioneers of stealth action games, Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 HD, are officially backwards compatible now on Xbox One.

Major Nelson made the announcement on Twitter (as he typically does with BC games), confirming that both games, as well as the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, have joined the massive library of playable Xbox 360 games on Xbox One. The HD Collection, which released back in 2011, also contains Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. That game was already made backwards compatible earlier this year.

If you already own a physical boxed copy of the HD Collection, you can simply slide the disc into your Xbox One and immediately start playing. If you’d rather have a digital version, the bundle only costs $20 USD from the Xbox Live Marketplace. It will take up approx 7.35 GB of storage space. With this recent development, the only MGS games not available on Xbox One is the original game and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Xbox 360 backwards compatibility remains one of the best features of Microsoft’s console. While there is still lots more to come, the backwards compatible team has done an astounding job getting most, if not all, major games playable on the machine. You can view the entire list of games here.
