Bethesda Shares Some Fallout 76 and Wolfenstein News at PAX Aus

Bethesda Talks Nintendo Switch, Fallout 76, and More at PAX Aus

It’s no secret that Bethesda loves the Nintendo Switch and while Bethesda has been one of the major publishers supporting the Switch at every turn, during their PAX Aus panel Marketing Executive Peter Hines shared some news about their future together. While he explained why Fallout 76 won’t be making it’s way onto the console, Hines wasn’t shy about expressing his support for the Switch moving forward.

Of course many are wondering why Fallout 76 won’t be making an appearance on the Switch, despite Bethesda’s love of the console. During the PAX Aus panel Hines stated the release of Fallout 76 just “wasn’t doable” though that doesn’t rule out future projects for the Switch. “The Switch is something I can say with certainty that it’s a part of every conversation with every dev we have now about what we’re doing going forward because we consider it to be a viable platform. If the game will work on it, we want it to be on every platform possible. Fallout 76 is not because it just wasn’t doable. But honestly, there is no game in development that we haven’t had a conversation about [bringing it to Switch]. ‘Does this work on the Switch, do you have a plan for the Switch?’ It’s not a mandate. Everything we do has to be developer-led, but it’s something we want to make sure is on folks’ radar.”

Despite the unfortunate news that Fallout 76 won’t be making its way onto the Switch, during the panel Hines teased that “the next Wolfenstein” game will in fact be coming to the Switch. What’s interesting about this is that the new standalone Wolfenstein title Wolfenstein: Youngblood has only been confirmed for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. We also know that there is a third major Wolfenstein coming down the pipe though no platforms have been announced yet. It’s unclear which of these he was referring to, or whether Hines was teasing a Switch release for both.
