Treyarch Finally Reveals the Fate of Hardcore Modes in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Treyarch Has Shared an Update About the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Hardcore Playlist

There’s no denying that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be quite different than any other COD title before it, with the huge addition of the battle royale game mode Blackout, and the removal of a regular campaign to name but a few massive changes. So what about hardcore playlists? Up until now Treyarch has been very tight lipped about this, but today they’ve finally shared an update.

After an exchange between Treyarch’s Design Director David Vonderhaar and a fan on Twitter earlier today, there was a ton of confusion about whether or not Black Ops 4 would have a Hardcore mode at launch. Soon after, Vonderhaar deleted the exchange and clarified that there will indeed be a Hardcore playlist available when the game launches in less than two weeks. You can check out his clarifying tweet below.

So there you have it. It seems that the battle royale mode Blackout will not ship with a hardcore mode available, though regular multiplayer Hardcore playlists are here to stay. This Hardcore mode was originally released in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and has been available in every COD game since. If you’re unfamiliar with the mode, it’s a lot more unforgiving than regular multiplayer game modes, where players have less health and limited HUD. Of course, it’s not exactly a game mode everyone enjoys, however it does have a large enough following to have been of some concern had it been missing from the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to launch on October 12th for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Are you glad there will still be a Hardcore game mode in this latest COD iteration? Are you hoping this mode will eventually be an option for Blackout? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to keep it locked for updates!
