Nintendo Switch Exclusives Such as Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu Won’t Have Cloud Saving
Several Nintendo Switch games such as Splatoon 2 and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu don’t support cloud saving, as was noticed by a ResetEra user on Friday.
A blurb that notified consumers about games that didn’t have cloud saving has been removed for NBA 2K19 and Dead Cells.
When reached for comment by Game Informer, Nintendo said that disallowing cloud saving for some games was meant to prevent cheating.
“The vast majority of Nintendo Switch games will support Save Data Cloud backup,” Nintendo said. “However, in certain games this feature would make it possible to, for example, regain items that had been traded to other players, or revert to a higher online multiplayer ranking that had been lost.”
“To ensure fair play, Save Data Cloud backup may not be enabled for such games,” they continued. “To ensure that Save Data Cloud backups cannot be used to unfairly affect online multiplayer rankings, the feature will not be enabled in Splatoon 2.”
