Sooner Than Never, At Least
With Ash vs Evil Dead in the rear-view mirror, we’re unlikely to ever see any more of Bruce Campbell in his most famous role. At least not until this mysterious video game is released. Details are scarce, but it sounds like Campbell will be voicing Ash in an upcoming game.
There aren’t exactly gobs of details at present, but a quote given to Bloody Disgusting suggests this is happening… soon? Hopefully soon. Campbell told the site:
I have previous obligations I have to fulfill. They are doing a video game. A whole immersive kind of dealio. I’ll be Ash for that, because I wouldn’t want someone else’s voice hamming it up.
Campbell had previously announced that he had retired from playing Ash for good, but I guess video game adaptations don’t count. Which is great! Voice work is hardly the same thing, anyway. Much less strenuous, especially for a 60-year-old actor. bloody Disgusting and Destructoid are pretty sure this is going to be a VR title, mostly due to the ‘immersive’ part of that quote. This is all coming from an interview that has yet to be published. Hopefully when that article comes out, we’ll find out some more details. This won’t be Campbell’s first time voicing Ash in a video game, but here’s hoping it will be the best one yet.
