Castlevania Season 2 Still Expected to Drop This Summer
Despite not knowing when Season 2 will premiere, a third season of the animated Castlevania series on Netflix is in the works.
Netflix has yet to make an official announcement but that didn’t stop Richard Armitage, who voices Trevor Belmont in the show, to inform Digital Spy that a third season was in production.
“We’re about to record a third,” revealed Armitage. “The second season hasn’t been aired yet, but we’re about to do a third.”
Digital Spy reached out to Netflix for confirmation but the popular streaming service had no official comment. Armitage went on to tease a little bit of Season 2, which is supposed to drop sometime this Summer.
“The son of Dracula [Adrian Tepes, voiced by James Callis] and my character get much more collaborative,” he revealed. “I think that’s one of the most exciting things, they start to really work together.”
A third season renewal, while certainly awesome news, isn’t too much of a shock. The first season, which released last year with four half-hour episodes, was praised by critics and watchers. In fact, Netflix renewed the series for a second season the same day Season 1 went live.
The Castlevania Netflix series is inspired by the popular video game series and is the first screen adaptation after a planned movie failed to get off the ground.
Armitage also said that he’d like to see a live-action version at some point. “I love my character in Castlevania… he’s this anti-heroic, drunk, slightly foul-mouthed, irritable git!
“I feel like it would make the most brilliant live-action piece,” he said. “It’s slightly anarchic and humorous – we don’t often see vampire heroics in that vein. One day, maybe.”
