Now That NieR Is Coming to Xbox One, a Switch Port Is Probable

Yoko Tara Plays Coy About Porting NieR

During Microsoft’s E3 briefing, they unveiled NieR: Automata – Become as Gods Edition, a port for the Xbox One. In case you missed it, Square Enix revealed the fact yet again during their video presentation. The point is this, the game is no longer limited to PS4 and Steam. Platinum Games are broadening their horizons, which could lead to a Nintendo Switch port.

In a recent Square Enix stream, eccentric director Yoko Taro, producer Yosuke Saito, and designer Takahisa Taura showed up for a brief message. Unfortunately, thanks to the camaraderie between them, we must take their words with a grain of salt. Taro mentioned the plausibility of a Switch port; Saito responded by saying that, if enough people asked Taura on Twitter, Platinum might be willing to invest in a port. Saito then seemingly joked that the project would take two years, that way they release “little by little” and keep their jobs.

Gamers have craved Nintendo Switch ports ever since the hybrid console launched, and Nintendo’s E3 presentation confirmed many new titles for the console, like DragonBall FighterZ and Killer Queen Black. A NieR: Automata port seems likely, especially since Nintendo and Platinum Games are working closely together on Bayonetta 3. Their established relationship could move things forward, but only time will tell. If you really want it, then go spam Taura @PG_taura (don’t actually spam him).
