Boxed Copies of SteamWorld Dig 2 for Switch and PS4 Now Available
SteamWorld Dig 2, one of the best Metroidvania’s in recent years, can now be purchased as a physical release at various retailers across North America. Before today, the game could only be bought digitally.
The developer, Image & Form, and publisher Rising Star Games are collaborating to bring physical copies of the game for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The boxed editions come with an exclusive double-sided poster containing artwork from the game, plus reversible box art with “never-before-seen artwork.” There doesn’t appear to be any plans for an Xbox One boxed release.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is the latest entry in the SteamWorld franchise by Image & Form, following the original SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Heist. The story revolves around an old trading town who is struck by mysterious earthquakes. It’s up to you, as a lone steambot and her trusty companion, to find out the source of the tremors.
Below are a handful of key SteamWorld Dig 2 features:
- Dig your way underground and explore vivid worlds riddled with treasure, secrets and traps.
- Combat dangerous enemies at every turn of the underworld’s twisted paths, including shadowy creatures and the haunted remains of an ancient electrical threat.
- Upgrade your gear to forge deeper into the earth and take on bigger challenges.
- Swing across large chasms with your Hookshot and fly through caves with the jet engine!
- And finally, learn the truth about your long lost friend…
Since its digital release late last year, SteamWorld Dig 2 has been praised by critics and gamers alike. The Switch version currently holds a Metacritic score of 88 while the PS4 version stands strong at 85.
