Shadow of the Tomb Raider Won’t Feature Lara Croft’s Pistols
Before this latest Tomb Raider trilogy reboot Lara Croft was known for flaunting dual pistols, in fact up until the latest titles, this was her signature look. As the last two games have instead featured her with a bow, many fans have been wondering if Shadow of the Tomb Raider, as the third and final game in the reboot trilogy, will bring these dual pistols back. Well it seems we’ve finally gotten an answer.
Today, in an interview with Sirus Gaming, game director Dan Bisson revealed that Lara Croft will not have her iconic dual pistols in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. He did explain however that there will be a large variety of weapons to choose from, with her signature bow at the helm. When asked about the decision Bisson stated, “No, I don’t want that. For us, this is her defining moment. We’re not going to put her in shorts with double pistols; wearing a bikini; that’s not what this is.”
It seems the development team wants to focus on Lara’s bows and arrows instead, keeping in line with the other games of the trilogy, “It’s because the twin pistols have an iconic thing about them. For this trilogy — not saying anything about later on, I don’t know about the future titles — but for this trilogy, the bow is still her signature weapon.” Despite this being a difficult pill to swallow for some fans, this news falls in line with what Square Enix said about this latest game taking the series to new heights and Lara Croft to new depths. And really, who doesn’t want to see that happen?
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be released on September 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. What do you think about the team sticking to their guns, ahem bow?
