Rumor: Resident Evil 2 Remake to Be 4K, Stylized, & Over the Shoulder

Rumor Says the Resident Evil 2 Remake Will Be at E3

The Resident Evil 2 Remake is in development, and if you weren’t aware of the fact, it’s thanks to Capcom’s incredible discretion. We know next to nothing about the project, but we might finally have some news worth sharing. Granted, everything mentioned is better taken with a grain of salt.

According to website RelyonHorror (via Resetera), who claims sources close to the project, Resident Evil 2 will likely be showcased at E3 2018. The website did not confirm as much, but, because of their source’s knowledge on the release date, an E3 showcase would fall within Capcom’s timetable. As for what we can expect from a showcase, the source allegedly delivered some details on gameplay.

Resident Evil 2 will run on a significantly optimized RE engine. Great strides in development have resulted in an evolved shadow and lighting system. On PlayStation 4, the game will stay locked at 1080p 30fps. But for the PlayStation 4 Pro, the devs are apparently attempting the leap to native 4K 60fps. How this will work is the game will load resolution everytime a player enters a room. In terms of visuals, the insider expects this to be the best-looking Capcom game to date. Through the implementation of photogrammetry scanning, we shall witness a photorealistic Racoon City.

Now we get to the point of contention. Where the player perspective is concerned, it seems Capcom is taking notes from its popular Resident Evil 4 installment. In other words, this remake will once again depart from franchise roots by using an OTS view. However, this camera view is being called “stylized” in execution. Whatever that means, we may learn sooner rather than later. If it’s any consolation to fans of first-person, word is that the character models of Leon and Claire will receive great attention to detail. And speaking of our two protagonists, the remake will entail campaigns for both characters. Overall, this will be a longer story with much more content than the original experience.

With that, let us know your thoughts on the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Per my mention, do remember that nothing’s officially confirmed. But what do you think about the information, if true? Comment down below.
