A New Elder Dragon Arrives
Monster Hunter World has reached the end of its special Kulve Taroth event. But the 16-player siege also marks the announcement of new content. Today, Capcom revealed the latest, free DLC in the form of Lunastra.
Lunastra is the female counterpart to the Elder Dragon Teostra, and she’s a bit more aggressive. Her standout appearance comes with an aura of blue flames that can burn players into submission. But she’s even more of a handful since she can team up with Teostra to make every hunter’s life extra difficult. Perhaps it is the case that she will unlock new turf wars. The trailer, which you can find below, seems to hint as much.
With the arrival of a new monster comes new weapons and armor. Every monster brings two pairs of armor and fourteen new weapon builds. Monster Hunter World veterans will note the armor’s likeness to the original Teostra set, except for the blue color and minor aesthetic differences. Nevertheless, the free content grants players additional milestones. To obtain the new armor, players will also need materials from Xeno’Jiva, Bazelgeuse, and Nergigante.
Capcom has also announced the arrival of new Arch Tempered monsters. These are elder dragons that are tougher than the tempered monsters we already see in the game. Thus if you were already frustrated by monster difficulty, they’re about to get harder. The new Monster Hunter World update goes live on May 20th, 5 AM PT. We’ll be posting additional updates as Capcom unveils more.
