Stellar Edition Comes With Encounters Expansion And The Crazy Gorgeous Base Game
Space shooters get prettier and prettier, you guys. I must have fallen asleep under a huge rock for a several years, because every new one that comes out is a highly-detailed artists’ rendition of every amazing NASA photo set ever smooshed into one purchase point. Well, not all of them. Everspace is definitely in that camp, however.
The Stellar Edition comes with the (gorgeous) base game, the Encounters expansion, the soundtrack, and a custom PS4 theme. Honestly, I’d be fine with just this pretty-yet-savage umm, roguelike, all on its own.
Okay, I’m not immediately sold on the roguelike element, as this particular gaming trend has lost a bit of its luster for me. But implanting said exhausted mechanic in a space shooter is an excellent first step in making me care about roguelikes once more. Thankfully, the perma-death element is one you can switch to as a separate hardcore mode. Otherwise, the roguelike element is contained mostly in the huge number of procedurally-generated levels. You’ve also got your usual feast of upgrades and collectibles to seek out, although this all takes a back seat to that delicious-looking combat. Seriously! There’s a trailer embedded below if you don’t believe me.
