Days Gone Devs Sort Of Address Delay

Better To Be Better And Late Than Mediocre And On Time

Days Gone was recently pushed back to 2019. This is always something of a downer, but itโ€™s worth it to see an upcoming game get more polish and shine. After all, we wouldnโ€™t want the team to push out something thatโ€™s less than optimal in the name of schedule adherence.

Christopher Reese, Sony Bendโ€™s director, spoke about how theyโ€™re โ€œdefinitely pushing the PlayStation 4 to its limits.โ€ during a video interview posted at Game Informer. This suggests that theyโ€™re aiming to make as big an impact as say, God of War recently did. With Sony Santa Monica raising the bar for the rest of Sonyโ€™s in-house developers, itโ€™s no wonder theyโ€™re running up against delays. Those are big shoes to fill, after all.

John Garvin, Sony Bendโ€™s creative director, spoke about the added pressure associated with this in-house status. For Garvin and the team, thereโ€™s a need to make โ€œsomething thatโ€™s worthy of first party because weโ€™re part of Sony.โ€ To that end, something like a delay in the gameโ€™s release is understandable. The team at Sony Bend wants to make Days Gone โ€œbest in classโ€ among open world games of this nature. Anything less just wouldnโ€™t have that same first-party shine, you know?
