The Soundtrack You Listened to While Chainsawing Through Demons Will Soon Be on Vinyl!
The physical release of DOOM’s intense, heavy metal soundtrack will be making its way onto vinyl and CD this summer! Laced Records, in collaboration with Bethesda, has curated 20 tracks for the physical version of the rocking soundtrack. The tracks were selected by the developers of 2016’s DOOM.
The soundtrack will come in four formats: Deluxe Double CD, Double LP, Special Edition Four-Disc Vinyl and the Special Limited Edition Vinyl Box Set. They’re all available for pre-order at Laced Records’ official website but the Special Limited Edition Vinyl Box Set will only be available for pre-order until May 2nd.
“Composed by long-time Bethesda collaborator Mick Gordon, his dark and intense vision channels industrial metal to mirror DOOM’s trademark brutal power fantasy gameplay across 31 synth and metal-filled tracks, spanning over two hours of runtime,” read a press release for the announcement.
“A true passion project, the recording process saw Gordon representing DOOM’s portrayal of Hell through the role of energy in sound production, imparting the physical properties of analogue equipment onto digital sources,” the press release continued.
While DOOM received great reviews, its excellent soundtrack also garnered praise. It won Best Music/Sound Design at the 2016 Game Awards and was nominated for in two audio categories for the 2017 BAFTA Games Awards.
The soundtrack is also currently available for download and streaming on Spotify, Amazon and iTunes.
