Microsoft Planning “Something Different” for This Year’s Xbox E3 Conference
It seems to arrive faster every year, but E3 is only three short months away. As we get closer to the biggest video game event of the year, it’s natural for E3 news to begin trickling out. As such, Microsoft has revealed the time and date of their Xbox E3 press briefing. This year, it will be held on Sunday, June 10th at 1 PM PT/4 PM ET. Microsoft has been enjoying that Sunday timeslot for years now and seems to enjoy kicking off E3.
The Verge’s Tom Warren broke the news over Twitter where he also said Microsoft is “doing something different” this year and that we will start to make sense of what that is soon. This is the second mention of Xbox doing things differently, the first coming from Xbox head Phil Spencer. Exactly what they are alluding to is anyone’s guess. Could Microsoft be changing up the structure of their press conference this year? Or are they planning to show something exciting?
Last year’s conference was a big one for Microsoft, which focused on the Xbox One X and a bunch of compatible games. While it was all well and good, it was hard not to take notice of the lack of Xbox One’s exclusive roster. Microsoft, without question, has the best console hardware out there but it needs to have strong first-party software to back it up. Maybe we’ll get a glimpse of what they’ve been working on during their briefing.
We don’t have confirmation from Sony or Nintendo as to their own plans for E3, but we should be getting them pretty soon. Bethesda will host their conference on Sunday, June 10th as well but at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET. EA will also be at E3 for another EA Play event. Their conference is on June 9th and will be streamed online.
What are you expecting from Xbox’s E3 conference this year? Let the speculation begin.
