Or They Really Want to Sell Some Nightlights
Blizzard either wants to show off their Diablo-themed nightlight or, just as likely, is teasing a Diablo 3 port for the Nintendo Switch. Maybe you can help us decide.
The official Blizzard Twitter account posted a short six-second video clip of a Diablo nightlight being switched on and off a few times. The caption reads “Sweet Dreams.”

Bizzard could very well be excited to show everyone a fancy new nightlight, but it appears to have generated a lot of buzz from fans, with the early assumption being that Diablo 3, specifically, is making its way to Nintendo’s hybrid console. If true, this would be the first time Blizzard would release a new game on a Nintendo console since Starcraft 64 on the N64.
On the other hand, this wouldn’t be the first time Blizzard had alluded to a new Switch game then didn’t follow through. In October 2016 — the same month Nintendo first revealed the Switch — a tweet from the official Hearthstone account was interpreted to be teasing a Hearthstone port. Last month, however, Hearthstone game designer Dean Ayala flat out said that there aren’t any plans to bring the game to Switch.
Swinging things back to Diablo, a Diablo 3 Switch port would make a lot of sense. After the success of the console ports on Xbox One and PS4, it’s entirely possible that Blizzard has been testing the game on Nintendo’s newest machine. With E3 only three months away, could we see an announcement on a Nintendo Direct?
