Death, Daring and Danger At Every Turn
Welcome to a very special installment of Nintendo’s Total Indie Absorption, wherein their hybrid console endlessly hungers for the succulent flesh of indie games. Dotemu is bringing the classic side-scrolling adventure Another World to the Nintendo Switch!
Remember Another World? Originally released way back in the early 90’s, it’s the story of Lester Knight Chaykin after a lab accident transports him to an alien planet. The whole game is the brainchild of Eric Chahi, who’s personally involved in this version being ported to the Nintendo Switch. If you’ve any taste for punishing side-scrolling adventure games drenched in eerie atmosphere, Chahi’s terrific title will be right up your alley.
The Switch version of the game will be playable at this year’s GDC. From what’s been shown in the available footage, it appears that the original experience is mostly intact. If anything, perhaps the graphics have been cleaned up a bit? Not that this is bad news by any means. The game used some terrific sprite art and animation when it was first released. It would be wasted resources to try and make this game any prettier than it already is. Speaking of footage, check out the announcement trailer embedded below!
