Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Invade Injustice 2 Multiverse

The Half-Shelled Heroes Have Wound up in the Injustice 2 Multiverse.

The Injustice 2 multiverse now allows players to play as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Players can play as any one of the classic anthropomorphic turtles: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello or Michelangelo.

As of now, the characters are available to Playstation 4 and Xbox One players who have purchased the Ultimate Edition, Ultimate Pack, or Fighter Pack #3. But starting February 20th, they will be available for $9.99 as a standalone purchase from the Playstation Store, Xbox Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam.

To use them, select between equipping one of four accessories: bo staff, nunchakus, sais, or swords. From here, you can change the character loadout to select one of the Turtles. If you’re playing online and in tournament modes, they will appear on the character select screen.

A trailer description offers up an explanation for their presence in the DC universe.

“While in a fight with the fearsome Krang—our heroes in a half-shell were jettisoned on a one-way trip across the Multiverse.”

Fans quickly noted Michaelangelo’s skateboard, which has stickers on the bottom that act as a nod to the past. One says “BIG” and the other says “3AM,” both references to the classic SNES game Turtles in Time. The revamped version is available on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Created by NetherRealm Studios, Injustice 2 is a fighting game that acts as a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us. It features a huge roster of DC super heroes and super-villains, as well as characters from other third-party franchises. In addition to the Turtles, the most notable are Mortal Kombat’s Raiden and Sub-Zero.

The first is known for its environmental interaction, stage transitions, and trait system, while the newest installation continues to innovate, adding a “Gear System” loot-dropping system. It rewards players using experience and loot, not unlike RPGs.
