Nintendo will release a Splatoon 2 Starter Edition on March 16th for $59.99 USD with some added goodies. That’s the same price its always been since it launched last July, but now you’re getting even more value.
The special bundle will be available in stores and will come loaded with the base game, a 100-page strategy guide, and two sheets of Splatoon stickers.
In related news, two more amiibo figures have been announced which should put a smile on every Splatoon fan’s face. Pearl and Marina, the duo that forms the group “Off the Hook” and who broadcast Inkopolis News and Splatfest events, will be getting the amiibo treatment. The figures will be sold exclusively as a 2-pack set when it launches in stores later this year.
Splatoon 2 has become one of the best-selling Nintendo Switch games since its release last summer. It has sold over 4.9 million units worldwide and continues to be supported with fresh new content, a new battle mode, extra gear and levels, and frequent Splatfest competitions like Mayo versus Ketchup. The next battle is set for February 16th and will pit Love and Money against one another.
You can read our launch review for Splatoon 2 here. Here’s a snippet of what our review had to say:
“With some impressive titles already released this year, the Nintendo Switch continues its hot streak with Splatoon 2. This may seem like a bold statement but Splatoon 2 finds itself to be one of the best shooters available right now. Granted, it is hard to compare gritty AAA first-person shooters with Splatoon 2 but it’s equally hard to argue against the aesthetically pleasing visuals, smooth framerate, polished gameplay, and pure fun of the game. Overall, Splatoon 2 is that refreshingly fun, summer title that looks and plays equally well.”
