Bandai Namco Also Working on a First-Person Shooter Adventure Title for Switch
It goes without saying that rumours should always be treated as such, but this recent juicy tidbit definitely has some credibility. Ridge Racer 8 and an unannounced first-person shooter adventure title are allegedly being developed by Bandai Namco exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
The rumour began from Bandai Namco Singapore Studios’ Shawn Pitman’s LinkedIn page which shows that he’s working on the eighth Ridge Racer game for the Switch. Pitman, who is the company’s lead designer, also mentions on his profile page that he is working on another Switch exclusive: an unannounced first-person shooter adventure title.
A new Ridge Racer game is certainly overdue. Ridge Racer Unbounded was developed by Bugbear Entertainment and released in 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. If Pitman’s LinkedIn page is true then this means that Bandai Namco is developing the new Ridge Racer internally again, much like it did with Ridge Racer 3D for the 3DS.
Speculation surrounding the unknown FPS is that this could be Metroid Prime 4. There have been reports that Bandai Namco has been working with Nintendo on the next Prime game but it’s yet to be confirmed. What doesn’t add up though is why would Pitman still call it an “unannounced IP” when Nintendo dropped the announcement at E3 2017?
What do you make of this rumour? The Nintendo Switch could use a solid realistic racer in its library. Share your thoughts below.
