Nintendo Switch Reviews Have Been Pulled
Last week, players were given the ability to review Nintendo Switch games. Now, Nintendo has removed the feature just five days after it launched. While games still have customer review tabs on Nintendo’s site, a blurb explaining the decision is now in their place.
Here’s what it says:
“Customer reviews have been taken offline as we evaluate this feature and its functionality. We currently have no estimated date on when an update will be provided. We appreciate the positive response and thank the reviewers who provided such thoughtful commentary on the games.”
Nintendo says that the system was just a trial. And while it is possible that it will be re-released in the future, nothing has been confirmed yet.
The system was a definitely a bit too detailed, asking players to tag games with descriptive phrases like “intuitive controls” and “great sound” in addition to their numerical rating. Maybe they’re going to try and streamline it a bit more with a future release.
Fans are also wondering what the future of the Nintendo Switch online service is, as it has already been delayed once.
“Nintendo’s online service will be a paid service, and we have announced that the price range will be between 2,000 and 3,000 yen [$18 to $27] per year for that service,” said Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima. “We’ve also announced that friends will be able to play online, and they’ll be able to use a dedicated smartphone application that enables voice chat during those games.”
“More details are forthcoming, but I just want to make sure that everyone understands that we will be going above and beyond to make sure that our customers are getting a service that is worth paying for, so we’re paying special attention to make sure that this is, again, a valuable service that they will appreciate from us.”
