Finding Love in Metal Gear Survive Is out of the Question
If you were hoping to improve your love life playing Metal Gear Survive, it looks like you’re going to be disappointed. In the game’s end-user license agreement, Konami prohibits anyone from seeking “a relationship with another person or [do] an act that Konami determines is made for the main purpose […]”
Another strange addition is one section that prohibits players from promoting a campaign (pre or post-election) or participating in any kind of politics while playing. I guess Konami is trying to keep Metal Gear Survive as focused on gameplay as possible?
It’s not the first time that an end-user agreement has been used to influence player behaviour. Killing Floor 2 prohibits cyber-bullying and gives Tripwire the right to terminate license keys, and Epic Games sued numerous Fortnite cheaters.
Regardless, Konami hasn’t been anyone’s favourite lately, and the Metal Gear Survive end-user terms aren’t going to win anyone over.
Metal Gear Survive was released February 20 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The game’s official excerpt is below.
“METAL GEAR SURVIVE builds upon METAL GEAR SOLID V’S enduring stealth action gameplay while introducing the new elements of exploration and survival to create a bold new experience. METAL GEAR SURVIVE is a spin off from the main METAL GEAR SOLID V story that takes place in a strange alternative universe. Create your own character and learn to survive. Scavenge resources, craft weapons, build a base camp and explore the unknown while developing the survival skills necessary in this hostile environment. In CO-OP mode, assemble a team of four players to infiltrate and defend areas from hordes of creatures. Place fortifications and defensive weapons strategically to give you an advantage against ever intensifying enemies. Team work and resourcefulness are key in these fast paced co-op missions.”
