The Mod Allows Players to Save Whenever They Want
A recently released PC mod for the medieval first-person RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, gives players the ability to save without using the Saviour Schnapps (a resource used in-game that allows you to save your game) they may have.
Titled “Unlimited Saving” and created by Nexus Mods users EddieShoe and biosmanager, the mod allows players to save at almost any time except for at specific points in the game such as its beginning. There are two versions of the mod file: one where players still need to have at least one schnapps in their inventory to save and one where schnapps isn’t needed at all.
However, the mod’s description warns players to backup their edits and saves on a regular basis since the game is presumably going to have updates in the future. The description also details how to uninstall the mod if players aren’t satisfied with it.
According to Nexus Mods statistics, the mod has been downloaded over 110,000 times.
Despite being in such a niche-genre (historically-accurate medieval first-person RPGs aren’t exactly a trend in mainstream games!), Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been a smash success for developer Warhorse Studios, selling over 500,000 copies in its first week. According to GfK Chart-Track, the game was only second to FIFA 18 in UK sales last week.

What do you think about this mod? Do you think that the default save system in Kingdom Come: Deliverance is fine the way it is and doesn’t need any modding or do you welcome this mod? What about unique save systems in general? Should every game have the typical quicksave and autosave system or should games start mixing it up more (such as in, say, Alien: Isolation)?
