America’s #1 Soccer League Lays out the Structure of Their Upcoming FIFA 18 Tournament
Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier professional soccer league in the United States, announced on Wednesday the details for their inaugural eMLS Cup, a FIFA 18 tournament featuring elite FIFA players. The tournament will be held at this year’s PAX East convention in April.
The preliminary rounds for the tournament will begin on April 5th and 6th at the eMLS HQ and the knockout rounds will take place on April 7th. The Conference Championships and eMLS Cup Final are scheduled for April 8th. The knockout matches and the two final rounds of the tournament will both be held on the main stage of the PAX Arena and will be livestreamed on the “PAXArena” Twitch channel. The final round will also be livestreamed on the official MLS website.
Participating players will represent 19 MLS teams and will duke it out for not only the eMLS Cup Trophy but also for spots in the EA Sports FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs. The playoffs will culminate in the FIFA eWorld Cup in August and whoever wins that will be named the FIFA 18 World Champion.
Participants will also be competing for several other prizes during the tournament.
“Players will be divided into two conferences, with ten clubs in the Eastern Conference and nine in the Western Conference,” an official post explained. “Competitors will select their squad of 11 starting players, seven bench players and five reserve players. Each team must have three MLS players on the field at all times, including two players from the Club that they represent.”
