What’s Old Is New Again
A modern spiritual successor to Theme Hospital is currently on its way later this year, announced SEGA and Two Point Studios today. It’s called Two Point Hospital (yes, named after the studio) and it comes from Gary Carr and Mark Webley, two of the original creators of the classic hospital management sim.
Two Point Hospital should look familiar to anyone that played Theme Hospital back in the day. It is set to deliver a “compelling experience packed with the humour, charm and replayability fans of the genre have come to expect.”
“Gary and I have been talking about this project for a number of years and are really excited to be announcing Two Point Studios’ first game,” said Mark Webley, Co-Founder of Two Points Studios. His fellow Co-Founder, Gary Carr added: “The amazing team we have managed to bring together, and our partnership with Sega, has really allowed this first part of our vision to finally come to fruition.”
In addition to Carr and Webley, Two Point Studios is composed of various experience management sim developers who have all collectively worked on games like Black and White, Theme Park, and Fable.
Two Point Hospital will launch on Steam and the SEGA Store later this year. Eager fans can sign up for the Hospital Pass at the official website. It will allow early access to “exciting news” about Two Point Hospital and an exclusive in-game item when the game is released.
In the meantime, check out the announcement trailer above which is presented like an infomercial about treating a man with “light-headedness.” The gag is that the man’s head has turned into a light bulb…get it? It seems that Two Point Hospital will retain the same style of humour as its predecessor.
