Along with A New Trails of Cold Steel for PS4
This week saw many video game companies have their financial results briefing, and hardcore Japanese developer, Nihon Falcom, dropped some news during the company’s financial results briefing that The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series is getting a new title on PS4 as well as a PS4 release of Cold Steel I and II. This is welcome news for JRPG fans who’ve heard of the series that combines social elements of Persona with its own fun combat system that has characters moving around the battle.
All three releases will be due by 2018 in Japan. Given the amount of voice acting and text, it will be a long time until we see the latest release localized for the West. That said, the recent PC port of Trails of Cold Steel I featured an updated localization with more voice acting. Thus, I hope we won’t have to wait too long for its PS4 incarnation.
It’s getting a little keeping track of the releases for this series, but it all began on PS3. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is available on PS3, PS Vita, and PC. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II is available on PS3 and PS Vita, with a PC version releasing in the future. Meanwhile, the latest entry in the series, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III, launched for PS4 in Japan on September 28. A western release has yet to be announced for the third title and the new announcements this week.
