WWE 2K18 Will Feature Timed Online PPV Events for Exclusive Swag
As we get closer to this year’s WWE 2K18, its developer 2K Sports has shared more information on their website on the game’s MyPLAYER mode, which allows for created wrestlers to increase their stats, and on the game’s new online mode, ROAD TO GLORY too.
First up, MyPLAYER, will let players create an upgradeable wrestler to use in MyCareer and the new online ROAD TO GLORY mode too. Wrestlers are broken into different classes with each fighting style coming with their own set of abilities such as High Fliers ability to leap off the top rope for big damage. The developers note that you export your wrestler from this mode and further customize them to the game’s more detailed Creation Suite.
In ROAD TO GLORY, players will be able to take their MyPLAYER-created wrestlers online against other players around the world to up their stats and stars. One cool feature is this mode will have an event schedule mirroring WWE’s own PPV events. The developers explain, “You can participate in any upcoming PPV Event for which you qualify: Earn the required amount of stars in time to qualify for a PPV Event. However, if you are short on either time or stars, we let you purchase your way into Events.” The last bit sounds a bit troubling as it sounds like P2W as the modes’ stars are earned through competing online. Furthermore, winning at these PPV events will give you an exclusive Superstar Part that is themed to the PPV Event.
WWE 2K18 releases for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC this October 13th.
