Arriving This Holiday
Introducing games to kids these days can be tricky. Often times, their small hands are too tiny to handle the controller properly or to reach specific buttons. To solve this problem Sony has announced the Mini Wired Gamepad, a small PS4 controller with a “simple form factor and a flat design” for younger gamers or for those that find the DualShock 4 difficult to hold.
The Mini Wired Gamepad is made by Hori and is 40 percent smaller than the standard PS4 controller. Missing from the controller is the touchpad, light bar, stereo headphone jack, speaker, vibration, and motion sensing. According to the PlayStation blog, certain touch pad inputs can be simulated via the left or right sticks. The controller is also wired with a 10ft cable and can easily be plugged in using the console’s USB ports.
We think the idea of a kids controller for the PS4 is a great idea and the price seems to be right on the money. We are a bit sceptical about that design though. At first glance, it sort of reminds us of the blue Switch Joy-Con, doesn’t it? Either way, this is an excellent way to introduce children to games or just to have as an alternative for the small-handed.
The mini PS4 controller is due to arrive this Holiday and will cost $29.99 in the US and $39.99 in Canada. What do you think about the Mini Wired Gamepad? Drop a comment down below.
