Classic Mech Game Returns After More Than a Decade
Last night, at the pre-Tokyo game show, Konami delivered news on an old gem of a game. Mech lovers, rejoice! Zone of the Enders is making a comeback to PC and PS4.
The mech action game, originally directed by Hideo Kojima, is coming back as Anubis Zone of the Enders. It was launched as early as 2001 for the PlayStation 2. Thereafter, its success led to a spin-off title for the GameBoy Advance, and then a sequel in 2003 called The 2nd Runner. During the last generation, it arrived as part of an HD collection for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Now, the game lives on in 2017 but with several improvements.
As boasted by the new trailer, Anubis Zone of the Enders will include improved, crisp audio and “next-gen surround sounds.” In addition, it will have VR support. It’s no wonder then the game was showcased at the Sony Interactive Entertainment press conference at the Tokyo Game Show. The game will serve as a new staple when it comes to PSVR must-haves.
But if there’s one more impressive feat worth mentioning, it’s that this new Zone of the Enders will flaunt 4K assets. Thus, probably for the first time ever, players will be able to play a high-octane mech action game with high-end graphics.
Anubis Zone of the Enders will arrive in 2018. Stay tuned for more news from the Tokyo Game Show.
