Oddworld: Soulstorm Keeps the Story Going
Yesterday during the EGX 2017 event, Lorne Lanning showcased Oddworld: Soulstorm, the new chapter of the Oddworld series, showing all the mechanics and humor for the upcoming title. This chapter is focused on the adventures of the Mudokons.
This chapter will pick up right from where Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty ended, or after the destruction of the RuptureFarms and the elimination of its CEO Molluck. With the Mudokon revolt in full swing, a new contender enters the ring, spelling trouble for the Mudokons: a new corrupt organization of Oddworld’s world, the Soulstorm Brewery.
And guess what? They force the Mudokons to work as lab rats (among other things) for the prized product of the company –Soulstorm Brew.
In the trailer below, we see how the Mudokons are the victims of testing leading to their death, and the same drink – which is quite addictive – is made with the tears and bones of the like of Abe. They’re drinking People! Soulstorm Brew is PEOPLE! Lorne Lanning confirmed dark environments will dominate this new game, which will also offer improved graphics that will represent the characters in the best way possible by giving them more personality.
Also new to the gameplay mechanics: Abe will have an inventory with which he can craft useful items during the adventure. In Soulstorm, there will be 301 Mudokons to save, including those already released by RuptureFarms in Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty. Each of these will be visible at the bottom of the screen, giving players the ability to see their activities or whether they are in danger.
Oddworld: Soulstorm is expected to release in 2018. No word on what platforms are expected to receive the title.
