The Splatoon 2 Map Rotation Will Be Cut Short, Circulating Every 2 Hours
Map rotations in the original Nintendo multiplayer, squid-themed paintball game, Splatoon, lasted for a span of four hours each. Word is that’s going to be a very different story for the upcoming sequel, Splatoon 2. The Splatoon 2 map rotation will be cut down dramatically, refreshing every two hours.
The Nintendo Switch exclusive title will still have a wide variety of colorful and exotic maps for players to explore, seek, and destroy their opponents in, with a combination of two maps that switch up between games, but the map rotations will be halved.
Splatoon 2 producer Hisahi Nogami elaborated on the issue in an interview with EDGE this month:
“We feel that part of the gameplay is actually selecting which weapons would be best for that combination of two maps. In Splatoon 2, the maps rotate every two hours, so it’ll be a much faster cycle than the previous game.”
Splatoon 2 is set to hit the shelves July 21, 2017 for Nintendo Switch.
