Nintendo No Longer Fixing 3DS Systems
It has been announced that Nintendo will no longer be repairing the original 3DS, and instead plans to concentrate all of its efforts on the most recent editions of the DS. This lack of support is unfortunate for anyone that purchased the original Nintendo 3DS.
This announcement comes directly from the official company website, stating, “Nintendo no longer offers factory repairs for the original Nintendo 3DS system.” The page continues on mentioning that the newer versions of the Nintendo 3DS, including the 3DS XL and the Nintendo 2DS, will still be fixed. As a way to tell which version of the system you have, the Japanese company suggests that you “check the serial number on the back of your system. If the serial number begins with CW, you have an original Nintendo 3DS system.”
Of course, thankfully, if you are one of those with the old 3DS model, you can have the system repaired at specialized shops, even though you can no longer contact Nintendo regarding any necessary repair needed or any system failure. The house of Kyoto will continue to offer support service to the latest versions of the portable console, like the Nintendo 3DS XL, new 3DS, Nintendo 2DS and soon, the upcoming Nintendo 2DS XL. This latest 2DS XL is set to release in a few months on July 28th!
In other related news, the company has posted an infographic on Twitter that shows us what software we can expect to see for the 3DS in next couple of months. From the tweet we can see that Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will be out this month, and a few more are set to release this summer! Some of these games include Miitopia and Hey! Pikmin. Finally, this fall, Fire Emblem Warriors will drop for the console. Check out the tweet below.
