Free to All E3 Attendees
Devolver Digital announced today via a press release that it will host Indie Picnic, a free indie games showcase across the street from the E3 this year. The event will be open to all E3 attendees with an event badge and will run from 11am – 7pm on June 13 – 17. Thus, it’ll be another welcome break from the moving spectacle of the hall for tired games media and streamers alike. At the event, there will be, of course, indie games from Devolver Digital available to play. Besides that. other companies such as Indie MEGABOOTH, X-Split, and Gambitious will have a presence at this event. And yes, there’ll be some food trucks and cold beverages awaiting picnic attendees.
“This is the week the entire industry and fans everywhere celebrate video games as entertainment and art with numerous events now happening across Los Angeles,” said Mike Wilson, co-founder of Devolver Digital in the press release. “Indie Picnic is our way of giving back to the fans and celebrating a mutual love for games and art.”
Last year, the indie publisher did something similar by having an anti-E3-booth by setting up an off-site event opposite the LA Convention Center and hosted several indie games there too. They even added a huge balloon last year to mark their off-site event as the E3 organizers placed shipping containers in the prior year to minimize their visibility.
Here’s hoping the huge Devolver Digital balloon will make a re-appearance this year.
