Legendary Composer Yasunori Mitsuda Is Not Playing Around With This Soundtrack
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was revealed back in January during the Nintendo Switch presentation, but up until now not a lot has been revealed. Little is known about the upcoming JRPG, however, thanks to a post in Yasunori Mitsuda’s Facebook we finally learned a bit more about the game’s soundtrack.
Yasunori Mitsuda is the game’s composer but you probably know him from other little, almost unknown, titles such as:
- Chrono Trigger
- Xenogears
- Mario Party
- Chrono Cross
- Shadow Hearts: Covenant
- Xenoblade Chronicles
- Soul Sacrifice
His most recent work is the soundtrack for Valkyria Revolution, which will release in the West both physically and digitally for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and as a digital-only title for the PlayStation Vita on June 27.
Mitsuda revealed that the recording for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is almost complete. He also mentioned that this is the biggest production he has ever been involved with (over 150 people have worked on the music), and taking a look at the list above, this is a statement that shouldn’t be taken lightly. He added that a soundtrack will likely be released, sadly no date has been given. However, there is still a lot of work to be done, mixing the music has only just started for the cutscenes of the game, so only half the tracks are mixed so far.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 launches sometime this year exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. For more on Xenoblade Chronicles and all things Nintendo, stay tuned to COGconnected.
