Thousands of Gamers Agree to Boycott For Honor over Broken Features

Hordes of Unhappy Players Will Boycott For Honor over the Game’s Broken Features, Participating in a Full-On Blackout for 24 Hours

The issues going on in Ubisoft’s brutal hack and slash game just keep piling up, thousands of players agree to completely boycott For Honor by participating in a 24 hour “blackout.” On Reddit, the user Jbaayoun made a post suggesting that the community stop playing the game on April 3rd to protest the lack of communication and community negligence coming from Ubisoft. The resulting response was phenomenal, and as it stands right now, the post has roughly 12,400 upvotes.

The boycott doesn’t come without a list of proposed changes to the game. In fact, that’s why they’re doing it in the first place. In the post, the community addresses their main concern with For Honor‘s current gameplay and the way that Ubisoft is handling the issues. As it stands, these are the following reasons for boycotting the game:

Communication: Ubisoft’s lack of communication and vague answers.

Future Plans: Lack of news for future game changes.

Steel: Microtransactions become heavy as players become forced to buy steel. Players feel that a slim amount of steel rewards forces them to purchase emotes and executions.

Matchmaking: Poor matchmaking of players.

ETA: A general idea of when Ubisoft plans on implementing changes to the game.

Ubisoft recently pushed a patch, making some improvements on the aforementioned issues by noticeably increasing steel income from matches by 25%, 12 new outfits, and a reinstated map that was earlier removed from the game by Ubisoft. Some players on Reddit agree that continuing the blackout after April 3rd would be beneficial, but it depends on how Ubisoft addresses the issues.

Ubisoft sent out an e-mail stating that the changes that were implemented today had nothing to do with the threats of an upcoming blackout, as they were planned well before the post was made, while other Redditors comment that they’ve already had their own personal “blackout” of the game by quitting it long ago.
