Tekken 7’s Story Mode Features Third-Person Shooting

Story Mode to Have Quick-Time Events Too

Tekken has never been a fighting game series afraid to look silly and have fun. Case in point, Tekken 7 shows that a punch does more damage than a spray of bullets. The game’s story mode lets players use the anime-haired Lars to unload a submachine gun into security guards, GameSpot reports. Aside from that, trailers have revealed that quick-time events will make its way to the story mode as well.

While the third-person shooting and quick-time mechanics seem like a fit for the VR component of the game, the series producer,  Katsuhiro Harada, has said Tekken 7‘s VR content would be more like:

We ended up focusing more on the character elements of it, where you can customize your character and look at it from various angles, or with a fight against a CPU opponent slow down the match, and change the camera angles so you can see the game like you’ve never seen it before. These are the kind of things that make Tekken a more enjoyable experience in VR.

It’s not the most exciting use of VR, but looking forward to VR in Tekken is like playing Final Fantasy XV for its VR content.

While Japanese fighting games have never come close to touching Injustice, Tekken 7 does have some cache as there are hints that it may very well be the final entry in the series. Besides that, the game will also be featuring guest characters like Street Fighter‘s Akuma. On post-launch content, Harada has told GameSpot that Tekken 7 will be the first game in the series to have paid DLC and a Season pass which will keep the team available for over a year as they wanted to support the game for a longer period.

With other fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and a new Guilty Gear out this year, 2017 is shaping up to be a great year for the FGC.
