New Space Map Could Be Coming to Overwatch
Last week we told you that Blizzard had 6 maps for Overwatch in the works, three of which would be coming out later this year. Today it is rumored that a space map may be coming soon!
After the announcement of the brand new maps, many Overwatch fans have been waiting for more information and it seems like they may have discovered a couple of hints as to what at least one of these maps might be! A few audio files that were datamined from an Overwatch event last June, the maps will be themed quite differently than what are currently in the game.
It seems, that one of these maps may take place in space! In one of the audio files, a line for the character Winston mentions the moon. This line has not yet been used in the game, so it could point to something space like in the future. While many may be wondering how a space map could possibly go with the rest of the game, it should be noted that Horizon Lunar Colony is also an established location in Overwatch lore.
On top of this Winston character line, there are also several other audio clips that feature sound effects and music that follows this space theme. There are more files still that hint at an underwater map as well. You can check out the audio files here. Just the other day Blizzard announced on Twitter that Overwatch has over 30 million players across all of the platforms as well, and if the news of this space map turns out to be true, these numbers will no doubt increase as well!
